Member for Willoughby Tim James has welcomed further funding in the 2025–26 NSW State Budget to continue upgrades to both Cammeray and Northbridge Public Schools that will deliver permanent facilities to remove outdated demountables.
Cammeray Public School will receive $5.308 million to deliver a new two-storey building that includes four permanent classrooms and two practical activities areas, replacing existing demountables. The building will feature a lift and covered walkways to improve accessibility and comfort for students and staff.
“This is a win for our local children and I thank every one who supported my calls improvements to be fast tracked including those who sign my petition in 2023 calling for this upgrade,” Mr James said.
Construction is now set to begin soon. “We’re also celebrating the opening of Stage 1 of the upgraded playground, with hopes for positive news soon on Stage 2 funding,” Mr James added.
Northbridge Public School will receive $2.408 million for a staged project that includes a new permanent amenities building near the existing play area, featuring male, female and accessible toilets. The upgrade will also refurbish staff amenities and the sick bay.
Once completed, demountable toilet blocks will be removed, with landscaping and shade sail installation to follow. Enhancements will include tiered decking, climbing boards, planters and new P&C-funded playground equipment.
“These upgrades will significantly enhance the learning environment for our students and staff, and I’m pleased to see ongoing investment in both schools,” Mr James said.
“These projects reflect our community’s strong voice and advocacy to ensure our children have access to quality educational facilities.” Mr James concluded.
