Member for Willoughby Tim James today launched a community petition calling on the state government to develop a masterplan and invest in major upgrades to Cammeray Public School.
“With the state budget approaching, the state government must commit to fully funding and delivering a world class school campus for Cammeray’s children.” Mr James said.
“I’ve heard from the school community and leadership that whilst much has been achieved at the school in recent years, the school needs a substantial upgrade to its facilities, so our kids continue to have access to the best opportunities into the future.”
“Some of the school’s playgrounds are tired and ageing. Demountable classrooms are no substitute for permanent learning spaces. The school hall isn't fit for purpose.”
“Where upgrades have been delivered, it’s been in an uncoordinated and haphazard manner – hence the need for a proper masterplan to guide future investment at the school.”
“I was proud to be part of the former Liberal government that made record investment into our local public schools, including delivering new schools such as at ANZAC Park Public and improvement of every local public schools.”
“It's not time to let up. The state government must continue investing in our future.”
“The new state government has now said its election promise to remove demountables at Cammeray Public is a 'long-term' ambition.”
“I'm calling for the demountables to be removed as part of a comprehensive upgrade into facilities at the school so our children and teachers have state of the art spaces.”
