Save Active Kids!

Member for Willoughby Tim James has backed the campaign to save the popular Active Kids voucher program from the axe of the Labor Government, asking people to sign the petition at www.saveactivekids.com.au to show their support.

“I’m hearing growing concern in our community at the impact the loss of Active Kids will have on local children, families, sporting and community organisations, and small businesses who have greatly welcomed the helping hand.” Mr James said.

The popular and successful program implemented by the Liberal and Nationals Government has allowed children across Willoughby and NSW greater opportunities to participate in sport and enhance their health and wellbeing whilst providing relief to family budgets.

More than 4.85 million vouchers have been redeemed across NSW since the program’s

inception, saving families $481 million.

“I call on the Labor Government to focus on assisting NSW families instead of increasing pressure on household budgets during a cost-of-living crisis and making it harder to keep our kids healthy.”

“This is not the time for Labor to be slugging families with extra costs.” Mr James said.

Opposition Leader Mark Speakman said “At the 2019 election NSW Labor was upfront about its plans to cancel Active Kids, but it said nothing at this election,”

“If it was planning to scrap the program, it should have been honest with NSW families. We want to see this program continue for NSW families, helping to take the pressure of family budgets and helping our kids get active.” Mr Speakman said.
