GORE HILL INDOOR SPORTS CENTRE SHOOTS AND SCORES $5 MILLION COMMITMENT

The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government will help make six multipurpose courts a reality for local Willoughby sporting groups, committing $5 million in funding for the new Gore Hill Indoor Sports Centre, if re-elected.

Premier Dominic Perrottet said the commitment, which includes funding new female-friendly change rooms and an underground carpark, will take the Gore Hill Indoor Sports Centre and nearby oval to the next level.

“The new Gore Hill Indoor Sports Centre will have something for everyone including netball, basketball, gymnastics, volleyball and wheelchair sports,” Mr Perrottet said.

“These new multipurpose courts will go a long way in encouraging more girls and women to play at the centre, as well as give people a variety in the sports and recreational activities they play.”

Member for Willoughby Tim James said this funding commitment would help bring the six multipurpose courts to life for the new Gore Hill Indoor Sports Centre and is possible because of the Liberal and Nationals Government’s long-term economic plan.

“We know how much our lower North Shore locals enjoy sport, and six new indoor courts means even more people and sporting groups can get in on the action at Gore Hill,” Mr James said.

“This commitment shows how the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government is leading the way and supporting local communities to grow their sporting facilities.

“It’s vital we have the infrastructure in place to inspire our next generation of sports superstars and make sport more accessible to girls and women in Willoughby.”

Minister for Sport Alister Henskens said this was another example of the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government investing in grassroots community sport.

“Since 2017, the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government has invested more than $2 billion in grassroots community sports infrastructure and programs, and we continue to help build new facilities such as the Gore Hill Indoor Sports Centre so that people have a place to play all sorts of sports in their local area,” Mr Henskens said.

Member for Lane Cove Anthony Roberts said the sports centre in Gore Hill addresses the need for indoor community sport facilities in the local area for everyone to enjoy.

“This commitment ensures we provide all clubs and players with a safe, fun and inclusive environment to play their chosen sports in Sydney’s north,” Mr Roberts said.
